What Types Of Home Are There?

Generally speaking, there are two types of home. Residential Homes provide assistance with personal care. This might include some help with washing and dressing if needed and staff can also care for residents during short periods of illness. If more dedicated and constant medical care is required, then a Nursing Home is really more suitable than a Residential one.

Most homes offer a programme of activities which is open to those residents who wish to participate. The purpose of offering activities is to improve the quality of life for residents and to keep them as active and interested in life as possible.

Would A Care Home Provide The Solution?

One of the more difficult things in life to cope with is admitting that we, or our loved ones, are growing older and are, perhaps, finding it hard to cope with living unsupported and alone. At such times, thoughts turn to residential care. This is a big decision to make so it is extremely important to make the right choice.

The homes run by G & A Care Homes Ltd. are all Residential Homes. We specialise in the care of the over 65s who have been diagnosed with dementia, although we are happy to accept residents who do not suffer from this condition.

The quality of accommodation and care can vary significantly between homes run by different companies and it may be difficult to explore the various options remotely. We always recommend that you arrange a visit so you can look around and ask your questions face to face. You should treat your visit with the same level of detail and care that you would give to the purchase of your own house. We recommend that you prepare a written list of questions you wish to ask so that you do not forget them on the occasion of your visit.

Our Homes

G & A Care Homes Ltd. currently owns three homes in the Southampton area - Beechwood, Oakwood and Pinewood. We have also recently acquired Abbeycroft and Fairhaven.
